Food for Beautiful Skin

Everyone dreams of possessing beautiful, flawless and healthy skin. We use various cosmetic cream, sunscreen face pack and face wash either to enhance or protect our skin but do not get the expected results. It’s what we consume that affects our skin health, so we should make sure we eat food essential for good skin.

Food for beautiful skin:

Water: It’s recommended to drink 8 glasses of water daily. Water cleanses the body by removing toxic waste products from the body. Water helps in hydration of skin cells which give you glowing skin but do not expect immediate results as it takes few months to get that glow.

Green and Red Vegetables: Carrot, beet root contain beta-carotene which gets converted into vitamin A. Green leafy vegetables are full of vitamin A. Vitamin A prevents premature aging, cell damage, acne, sebum production, wrinkles and fine lines. Vitamin A repairs skin tissues and mucous membrane and flushes toxins from the body. Vitamin A is also found in whole milk, yogurt, whole butter, liver oily fish, and eggs.

Citrus Fruits: Citrus fruits (orange, lemon, grapefruit, and lime) contain vitamin C which helps in the generation of collagen fiber vital element for healing wounds. Vitamin C is an antioxidant and anti-aging vitamin. Vitamin C is also found in tomatoes, potatoes, papaya, broccoli, brussels sprouts, kiwi, peas, strawberries, cauliflower and black current.

Nuts: Nuts contains vitamin E which also an antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory effect. Vitamin E has anti-aging effect and helps skin retain moisture. Vitamin E is also found in vegetable oils, wheat germ, whole grain, avocados and sweet potatoes.

Green tea: Green tea contains anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant agents which help in preventing bacterial infection and skin aging.

Berries: Strawberries, plums and blueberries contains anti-oxidant agents which help in making your skin look healthy and youthful.

Salmon: Salmon provides us with Omega 3 and Omega 6 these fatty acids are essential for our skin to keep it moisturized. Vegetarians can opt for flax seed, walnut and soybeans.

Eggs, red meat and seafood: Eggs, red meat and seafood are rich in iron. Iron plays an important role in the process of blood formation. Deficiency of iron causes anemia which shows up by dark circles and pale complexion. Vegetarians can opt for Spinach.

Milk, Banana and whole grain: They contain Vitamin B complex which helps in skin metabolism. Vitamin B is also found in egg, chicken, red meat, soybeans, and breakfast cereals. 

For a beautiful and healthy skin we need to avoid certain food. 

Avoid coffee and sodas: Since coffee increases discharge of urine. It’s recommended not to have more than 2 cup of tea or coffee per day. 

Avoid Alcohol: Alcohol causes skin aging. 

Avoid saturate fats: They cause harm to the cardiovascular system. They cause wrinkles and skin aging. 

Carbohydrates: You need to avoid certain carbohydrates that raise blood glucose level. For e.g. pasta, raisins or baked beans. 

Eating food containing right nutrients for your skin helps you get a glowing and healthy skin. It restores the elasticity of your skin, brightens your complexion and makes you look young.
